At least one person has lost their life and seven others have been injured after the explosion of a tanker truck that triggered a serious traffic accident in the Iranian Kurdistan region, located in the northwest of the country, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred on an intercity road that connects the county of Sanandaj, in the Kurdistan province, with the county of Hamedan, in the Hamedan province, as explained by the head of the medical services in the area, Babak Hodaei, in statements collected by the Iranian state channel IRIB.
According to the information provided by Hodaei, the explosion would have caused the fire of several vehicles that were traveling in the vicinity, and he specified that emergency teams have immediately evacuated the injured to a hospital in Sarandaj.
Rescue efforts remain active, according to state television.
