The authorities of the Ukrainian region of Zaporiyia have communicated this Tuesday that at least six people have lost their lives as a consequence of the bombings launched by the Armed Forces of Russia during the past night over the province, in which another 19 have also been injured.
"The Russians launched a massive combined attack with missiles and guided bombs against the regional capital. Four apartment buildings and other non-residential buildings were damaged," denounced the provincial governor, Ivan Fedorov, in a message on his social networks.
In the last 24 hours, the few areas of the province of Zaporiyia that remain outside Moscow's control have been the target of a new high-intensity offensive by Russian forces, which have carried out 938 attacks against 58 localities, including the homonymous capital and several nearby small towns.
According to the balance provided by Fedorov, at least a dozen missile attacks have been recorded, as well as artillery bombings and the use of 650 drones in that same period, including those registered during the night, which have already caused the first six fatalities.
The city of Zaporiyia is located a short distance from the southern front line, making it a recurring target of Russian airstrikes. Moscow has maintained control over nearly 70% of the territory of this province since the early phases of the invasion, which began in February 2022.
