The Liberal Party candidate, Flávio Bolsonaro, is ahead in the second round of Brazil's presidential elections with 50.05% of the votes, according to the first official data corresponding to 14.57% of the counted ballots.
For his part, his opponent, the representative of the Workers' Party (PT) and current president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, totals 49.95% of the votes, according to figures released by the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court.
Voter turnout reaches 80.45%, with 1.01% of blank votes and 1.96% of null votes. The remainder, 97.03%, corresponds to valid votes.
The electoral day this Sunday has been marked by incidents in public transportation, which led, at the request of the candidates themselves, mainly Lula's, to the Brazilian Supreme Electoral Court ordering an extension of the voting hours by two more hours, until 7:00 PM.
