The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) have reported the search of the headquarters of the country's Central Bank, as well as the home of one of its employees.
In a brief message disseminated on social media, the two agencies have specified that "no one has been arrested nor have any suspicion notices been issued," and have emphasized that the actions carried out in Kiev have been conducted in accordance with current legislation, without providing further information for now.
The Ukrainian Central Bank has confirmed that these proceedings have taken place, although it has refrained from offering more comments.
"The bank confirms the information about the investigations carried out by the NABU at the facilities of the National Bank. Additional explanations will be provided once the procedures are concluded," the statement indicates.
Later, in another post on social media, the governor of the Central Bank, Andriy Pishni, emphasized that the open case is not related "either to the functions of the bank" or to his management of the agency. "According to the court order, the criminal process within which the investigations were carried out does not concern either the activities of the National Bank of Ukraine or my official functions as its president. The investigation sought evidence in a case related to other circumstances and people," he explained.
