The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran reported early this Monday of a missile offensive against the Rey Hussein and Al Azraq air bases, located in Jordanian territory. According to the Iranian military body, these enclaves contain facilities and positions related to U.S. fighter jets, which would have been hit in retaliation for the recent attack by the United States Army against Larek Island, in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement released by the Iranian agency Tasnim, linked to the Revolutionary Guard itself, it is detailed that "The Aerospace Force of the Revolutionary Guard has launched ballistic missiles against the technical and maintenance infrastructure and the deployment bases of enemy combat aircraft at the two U.S. air bases, Rey Hussein and Al Azraq, in Jordan".

The military body has justified these attacks as "a response to the aerial aggression of the U.S.-Zionist enemy on Larek Island", where hours earlier it had acknowledged the existence of dead and wounded fighters. In the same message, the Revolutionary Guard issued an additional warning by stating that "Each shot will receive an even more crushing response".

Jordan claims to have intercepted the missiles

In reaction to these events, the Jordanian Armed Forces have communicated that their defensive systems acted against the launched projectiles. According to their official version, "they intercepted eight missiles that penetrated the airspace of the Kingdom".

The spokesperson for the Jordanian Army added in an official note that "The Jordanian Armed Forces neutralized these attacks and managed to destroy the missiles before they posed a threat to the population or property".

In the same statement, the military representative emphasized that the Jordanian forces "will take all necessary measures to protect the homeland, preserve its sovereignty, and maintain its security and stability", thus underscoring the country's determination to prevent the conflict from escalating within its borders.
