The Iranian authorities have assured this Tuesday that the visit made on Monday by a delegation from Pakistan, a country that acts as a mediator in the indirect talks with the United States to try to end the conflict in the Middle East, has resulted in "diplomatic achievements of great value."
The vice-spokesman of the Presidency of Iran, Mehdi Tabatabaei, pointed out in a message published on social media that the presence of the Pakistani delegation in Tehran was "very fruitful" and added that it "was full of diplomatic achievements of great value." "The results will be revealed soon," he stated, without offering further details for now.
During the day on Monday, the Iranian president, Masud Pezeshkian, met with the chief of the Pakistani Army, Asim Munir, to whom he expressed his recognition for the "constructive mediation efforts" of Islamabad, while emphasizing the importance of "achieving the objectives" established in the memorandum of understanding signed with the United States.
In this context, Pezeshkian demanded that Washington "fulfill its commitments to Iran" and "review its tone and stance" in its relations with Tehran, reiterating that "harassment and intimidation will only complicate" the scenario, according to information disseminated by the Iranian news agency Tasnim.
The leader also stressed that achieving stable peace in the Middle East is "essential" and emphasized that the Iranian authorities "are prepared to cooperate and interact with Muslim and neighboring countries in the economic, political, and security fields."
Hours earlier, the Interior Minister of Pakistan, Mohsin Naqvi, had spoken of "significant progress" in contacts with Iranian officials with the aim of reactivating the diplomatic channel with the United States to try to close the conflict.
The presence in Iran of Munir and Naqvi coincided with Washington's announcement of a new commercial offensive aimed at cutting all sources of funding for Iran, with the warning of possible sanctions on any country that maintains commercial ties with the Islamic Republic, including China, with the goal of achieving total isolation of the Iranian economy.
