The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has reiterated that Iran has stopped paying salaries to "large sectors" of its Army and has accused Iranian forces of killing their own population, even when they are not participating in protests, something he describes as "a humanitarian crisis of epic proportions."
"The failed Islamic Republic of Iran is not paying large sectors of its military forces, while at the same time killing protesters, even when they are not protesting, at levels never seen before," the U.S. president has pointed out in a message disseminated on social media.
In the same vein, Trump has described the internal situation of the Persian country as a "humanitarian crisis of epic proportions" that, in his opinion, "must be stopped" immediately.
The president's statements come after Washington and Tehran have let the 60-day deadline set to attempt a definitive solution to the crisis opened by the offensive launched by the U.S. and Israeli Army against Iran last February pass without agreement.
After this new disagreement, the United States has threatened to launch a trade offensive aimed at cutting any funding avenues for Iran, warning of possible sanctions to all countries that maintain economic relations with the Islamic Republic, including China, with the goal of achieving total isolation of the Iranian economy.
