Israel and Morocco have decided to transform their current diplomatic missions into embassies, within the framework of a meeting held this Wednesday in New York under the umbrella of the United States, a meeting that has highlighted the existing harmony between the three countries.
In addition to the appointment of their respective ambassadors, both governments have agreed to move forward to "improve" the already close bilateral relations that emerged after the Abraham Accords signed in 2020, which meant the normalization of ties between Morocco, Israel, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the 'Times of Israel', the Israeli and Moroccan delegations have also committed to conclude before the end of 2026 the agreements on reciprocal investment protection and double taxation, increase direct air connections between both territories, and organize high-level visits in the coming months.
The Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Saar, has highlighted the "courage and dedication" of the Moroccan officials during the meeting, in which his counterpart Nasser Bourita and the permanent ambassador of the United States to the UN, Mike Waltz, also participated.
"The Abraham Accords demonstrate that all barriers can be broken, that a new path can be chosen for all, of peace and collaboration of all our countries. Morocco occupies a very special place in this vision. I want to thank you for your friendship and your dedication to rebuilding the friendship between Muslims and Jews," he stated.
Saar also took the opportunity to express his "deep respect" to King Mohammed VI and to praise the American president, Donald Trump, for his "determination to forge a better future" in the Middle East.
