The authorities of Nepal have updated this Saturday the balance of victims of the severe floods recorded last week in the north of the country, near the border with China, and place the number of deceased at 1,344, while almost 5,000 people remain missing more than a week after the disaster.
The latest count released by the Nepalese Police maintains the death toll at 1,344, including 302 minors, and raises the number of injured to 8,962. The authorities have also indicated that nearly a thousand bodies have already been officially buried.
Regarding the people still unlocated after the flood of August 26, official sources from Nepal speak of 4,886 missing persons, of which 606 would be foreign citizens.
To the balance provided by the Nepalese Government are added the data from China, which counts at least 31 deceased and around 531 missing in its territory. With these combined figures, the disaster currently leaves around 1,375 dead and more than 5,400 missing between both countries.
