The Paris Prefecture has communicated that demonstrations and gatherings will be banned in several areas of the French capital, especially in the heart of the city, throughout practically the entire day this Thursday.
According to the notice disseminated by the Prefecture on its social networks, the restriction will be in effect from 08:00 to 20:00. The perimeter includes the official residences of the president and the prime minister, the Élysée Palace and Matignon, as well as the National Assembly, the Senate, and major tourist sites such as the Louvre Museum and the Champs-Élysées.
The French security forces justify the decision due to the risk of the disturbances of recent days "in a social context and of maximum tension claims" and that they may be reproduced "during the previously notified demonstrations for October 22, preludes to the new mobilization announced for October 24."
Likewise, the Police again point out as an argument the possible emergence of "radical movements" that would be developing "a strategy of confrontation with the internal security forces," according to the notification, in line with the tightening of the restrictive measures anticipated by the French Government.
The Prime Minister of France, Sébastien Lecornu, had already assured on Tuesday that the new wave of protests called nationwide by the 'yellow vests' and by student unions for this Saturday will face a "massive" police deployment that will not resemble at all the "static and little mobile" response of previous calls.
