The candidate Raphaël Glucksmann has clearly won the presidential primaries of the French Socialist Party (PS), obtaining 66.13% of the votes, according to the center-left formation itself.
In this first round of the socialist primaries, Glucksmann gathered 79,613 ballots out of a total of 120,587 votes cast, placing ahead of Olivier Faure, who received 17,398 supports (14.46%), Ségolène Royal, with 9,165 votes (7.62%), and Jérôme Guedj, who reached 7,012 votes (5.83%).
"Therefore, (Glucksmann) has been designated as the candidate for the presidency of the Republic through the vote of those registered in the primaries of Socialists and Democrats," announced the president of the Commission for the Organization of the Primaries, Patrick Mennucci.
Looking ahead to the French presidential elections scheduled for April 18, 2027, polls place the socialist candidate between 11 and 13% of the votes. The leader of the far-right, Marine Le Pen, is leading with a range of between 32 and 36% of voting intention, while the conservative Édouard Philippe would be between 16 and 24% and the leftist leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon would obtain between 14 and 17% support.
