Russia and Ukraine are working on organizing a new exchange of a large number of prisoners of war, in line with the dynamics of the last few weeks, in which more than 200 people have already been exchanged between both sides.
According to the Russian Commissioner for Human Rights, Yana Lantratova, in statements to the Russian agency TASS, the delegations from Moscow and Kiev are finalizing the list of names for a "rather large" prisoner exchange.
"We are preparing another rather large prisoner exchange, and the lists are being agreed upon," Lantratova specified, confirming that the talks are in an advanced stage.
A week ago, on August 19, Russia and Ukraine announced the completion of an exchange involving 206 prisoners of war, with 103 people released by each side. Subsequently, this Monday, coinciding with the celebrations of Ukraine's Independence Day, Kiev reported the exchange of another ten prisoners.
In total, around 70 operations of this kind have been carried out in recent years, making these exchanges one of the few areas of cooperation and direct contact that remain open between Kiev and Moscow since the beginning of the conflict.
