This Sunday, at 20:00 hours, voting has concluded in the polling stations of Serbia as part of the early legislative elections, a day characterized by a very high turnout at the polls. The first official figures of the counting will be announced around 22:30 hours.
Participation has reached 67.6% at 19:00 hours, according to data released by IPSOS and the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (Cesid).
This figure represents a significant increase compared to the 55.9% recorded at 19:00 hours in the previous early elections of 2023, as highlighted by Serbian media.
Shortly after the closing of the polling stations, it was reported that the candidate of the ruling party, the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), former president Aleksandar Vucic, has moved to the party headquarters to follow the vote counting. Vucic is running as the head of the list for the candidacy "Aleksandar Vucic-United Serbia."
The polling centers opened at 7:00 hours, although in some locations there were slight delays due to organizational issues and the early arrival of voters.
According to the Electoral Commission of the Republic (RIK), a total of 6,451,292 citizens were called to the polls in 8,392 polling stations, with 18 electoral lists on the ballot. Voting remained operational until 20:00 hours.
