The former president of Serbia and candidate to lead the Government in the elections held this Sunday, Alaksandar Vucic, has admitted the defeat of his party, the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), in the internal voting.

From the party headquarters, and according to Serbian press reports, Vucic has stated that "we do not have the definitive results. Many will be surprised and you will understand how much some have lied. I want to inform you that according to a stratified sample it is clear that we have lost these elections."

The leader has detailed that "the student list has won and will have between 135 and 140 seats and we around 105." In addition, he has indicated that "no one else has achieved representation... Well, the Hungarians of Vojvodina have three seats and the Albanians, I mean the SDA."

Even so, he has emphasized that "we are going to fight." "I know it is a difficult moment for many (...). Some will abandon us, but our structure is very solid. We have learned from the opposition, so do not get angry," he has stated while addressing his supporters.

Vucic has attributed this outcome to the "revolution" driven, according to him, with "support from foreign countries." "I congratulate them even if they are only the perpetrators of a dirty job that others have designed," he has affirmed, before predicting that sanctions against Russia will be imposed in March or April. "I congratulate Natasa Kandic. Her politics has won," he has concluded, referring to the activist who promoted the breakup of Yugoslavia.
