Sweden has closed an agreement this Monday to acquire four frigates built in France by Naval Group, in a context of strengthening military cooperation between Stockholm and Paris, coinciding with the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to the Swedish capital to meet with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

The Swedish head of government has explained on his social media: "Today I welcome President Macron back to Stockholm. We signed a framework agreement on defense cooperation and the agreement on four French frigates that the Armed Forces are acquiring from Naval Group."

"This strengthens the excellent cooperation and promotes business opportunities," Kristersson added, emphasizing the impact of the contract both strategically and economically.

Macron, for his part, has described his stay in Sweden as an "important day for the friendship between Sweden and France." The French leader highlighted that "firm decisions have been made regarding defense cooperation, a new step in our strategic partnership, a shared ambition: a strong, sovereign Europe, master of its destiny," referring to the shared goals of both countries in the European context.
