The Federal Police of Brazil has communicated the "seizure of 363,577.50 reais --more than 53,000 euros at the exchange rate-- in cash during the voting day of the general elections in Brazil." The operation has developed throughout the day in different points of the country.

According to the information disseminated by the authorities and "as reported by the Brazilian press," by 11:30 AM --4:30 PM in mainland Spain-- "48 people have been arrested for different crimes, such as dissemination of irregular electoral propaganda or electoral corruption, mainly vote buying." This balance will be updated as the counting of incidents progresses.

At the same time, the Ministry of Justice has disseminated a preliminary report detailing the detection of "107 irregularities detected by 9:00 AM, including 33 for vote buying or electoral corruption." The document also reports "14 cases of irregular electoral propaganda, illegal gatherings of voters, and threats against candidates," reflecting the intensity of surveillance during the process.

The day is also marked by significant crowds at some polling centers. At the polling station in Rocinha, the largest favela in Rio de Janeiro, lines of up to 1.5 kilometers have formed, forcing citizens to wait a long time to exercise their right to vote. This community is considered one of the main strongholds of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the city, after in 2022 he supported the "78.2% for the candidate of the Workers' Party (PT)."
