The Justice has granted authorization to Marius Borg Hoiby, son of the queen of Norway, Mette-Marit, who is serving a four-year prison sentence for two counts of rape, to be present at the funeral procession of King Harald this Monday and at the funeral scheduled for next September 9.
This Monday, Hoiby participated in the transfer of the coffin to the chapel of the Royal Palace, alongside the king's children and the rest of the king's grandchildren, after a judge allowed him to leave the Skaugum prison, as reported by "Aftenposten".
The coffin will remain in the chapel of the Royal Palace until the date of the funeral, which Hoiby, the firstborn of Mette-Marit of Norway, born in 1997 from a previous relationship before her marriage to King Haakon VIII, will also attend.
Despite this authorization, Hoiby will remain under police custody until September 7. The young man, 29 years old, was sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty of 34 crimes, including two rapes, episodes of mistreatment of ex-partners, physical assaults, robberies, and threats, among other charges.
King Harald of Norway, who passed away last Friday at the age of 89, will receive his final farewell on September 9 at a funeral in Oslo Cathedral, after which his remains will be transferred to the crypt of Akershus Castle.
