The Democratic Party of South Korea, the political force that supports the Government, has communicated that it will bring before the National Assembly (the Parliament) a proposal to open an investigation against the president of the Supreme Court, Cho Hee Dae, with the aim of removing him from office for alleged political interference.
As explained by its spokesperson, Jeon Eun Su, the party plans to register a motion in the plenary session next Thursday, after accusing the high magistrate of meddling in last year's presidential elections by overturning a not guilty verdict in favor of President Lee Jae Myung for violating electoral law.
The decision to order that the president's case be retried represented, in the opinion of the Democratic Party, a direct interference in the presidential elections of June 3, the spokesperson has pointed out in statements collected by the official news agency Yonhap.
