The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has claimed this Wednesday the turnaround of the results in the legislative elections in Israel, stating that his recent public support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would have prevented his defeat and favored a "comeback" of the conservative bloc.

"When President Trump backed 'Bibi' Netanyahu, the situation changed completely," the American leader has published on his social media, in a quoted message signed with the name of Irving C. Schwartz, without providing details about the identity of this person.

According to the text disseminated by Trump, instead of "a decisive defeat for a great prime minister," the current landscape would be "a great tie after a comeback, or even a victory" for the leader of Likud.

The head of the White House has emphasized that this turnaround at the polls would have occurred "after President Trump's backing, who only wants what is good for the Middle East, Israel, and the United States."

These statements come as the official count in Israel progresses. With 55.4% of the tables counted, the right-wing and religious bloc led by Netanyahu provisionally adds up to 56 seats, with 43.8% of the votes, compared to the 49 of the opposition alliance of Gadi Eisenkot and the 15 of the Arab parties. Despite this advantage, no list has yet reached the absolute majority of 61 deputies necessary to ensure governability.
