The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has indicated this Saturday that he is considering the option of ordering attacks against the Houthi rebels in Yemen as a reaction to the recent attacks directed against Saudi Arabian territory.
Asked at Andrews Air Force Base whether Washington could support Saudi bombings against the Houthis, Trump replied: "Maybe. We will study it." "I just learned about the latest attack. We will make a decision. We are moving very quickly," he added, leaving the door open for a coordinated military response with Riyadh.
The American leader has also been asked about the possibility of undertaking new military actions against Iran and whether he was considering postponing them until after the midterm elections scheduled for November. "We will study it," he reiterated, without specifying timelines or specific measures.
Regarding the ongoing standoff with Tehran, Trump insisted that "we can end it very quickly" and emphasized that "they don't know how good we have been with them," referring to the treatment received from his Administration.
Hours later, during a campaign rally in the state of Tennessee, the president further hardened his rhetoric and launched harsh disqualifications against Iranian authorities. There he stated that the Iranians "are crazy." "The Iranians say 'we are going to kill everyone,' 'everyone.' They also say 'Praise be to Allah, praise be to Allah.' I say 'Dude, you are crazy,'" he expressed. "They are a country of lunatics. They know it. I always tell them. I tell them 'you are completely crazy,'" he emphasized before his supporters.
