The Ukrainian Army carried out a series of long-range missile attacks on Saturday against strategic targets in Russian territory, including a facility of the state space corporation in the Samara region, the Savasleika airfield in the Nizhni Novgorod province, and an oil infrastructure located in Ust-Luga, in the Leningrad province.
According to Ukrainian authorities, the first attack targeted one of the key facilities of the Russian space agency Roscosmos in Samara, known as the Progress Center, dedicated, among other functions, to the manufacturing of electronic components. The impact is said to have caused severe damage to the complex, located about 900 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
"Today we have new significant results from our precision attacks. In the Russian region of Samara, one of the key facilities of Roscosmos --the Progress Center, which was involved, among other things, in the production of electronic products-- has been destroyed. 'Flamingo' missiles were used; this is a great achievement. The distance from our border is about 900 kilometers," explained President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The head of the Ukrainian state also indicated that the long-range missiles hit the Savasleika airfield, which the Russian Armed Forces use to "attack Ukrainian cities and towns." "This is about 700 kilometers from Ukraine," the leader specified, emphasizing the range of the weaponry used.
In parallel, another attack has been confirmed against an oil facility in the town of Ust-Luga, in the Leningrad region, located more than 800 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. This infrastructure is part of the Russian energy network and is now suffering the consequences of the impact of Ukrainian missiles.
"Our sanctions plan (referring to the missiles) of long-range against Russia for this war is being implemented, and it is important that the Russian potential for war is reduced," Zelensky asserted, presenting these attacks as part of a strategy to weaken Russia's military and logistical capacity far from the front.
