The authorities of Yemen recognized by the international community announced this Wednesday the designation of Salem Saleh bin Buraik, former head of Government, as the new ambassador in Saudi Arabia.
The Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen confirmed the appointment of Bin Buraik through a decree published on its official page, in which it merely announces the decision without providing additional information about his functions or schedule.
Bin Buraik took over the leadership of the Government in May 2025, after the resignation of Ahmed bin Mubarak, who remained for just over a year at the head of the Council of Ministers of the Presidential Leadership Council, currently established in Aden after its expulsion from Sana'a at the end of 2014 by the Houthi insurgency, which continues to control the capital and extensive areas of Yemeni territory.
In January of this year, Bin Buraik submitted his resignation as prime minister and was subsequently appointed advisor to the president of the Council of Leadership, Rashad al Alimi, for "financial and economic matters".
