The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced this Wednesday a series of attacks by Ukrainian forces against "the last great stronghold of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea," located at the naval base of Novorossiysk, in the Russian region of Krasnodar, actions that, according to Moscow's version, have left two people deceased.
Zelensky emphasized the positive outcome of the operation against these facilities, located more than 300 kilometers from the front line, in which Palianitsia drones and Neptune missiles would have been used. "Impacts on air defense positions, docks, and maritime port infrastructure have been confirmed," he noted on social media.
The Ukrainian leader insisted that "the occupation fleet and all the infrastructure supporting it will not be safe as long as the Russian aggression continues," while reiterating that "all reasonable diplomatic proposals are on the table" in order to achieve as soon as possible an agreement that ends the conflict.
In parallel, local Russian authorities have assured that this new attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine has caused several injuries and, at least, two fatalities, including an eight-year-old child in the aforementioned port city of Novorossiysk.
The governor of Krasnodar, Veniamin Kondratiev, explained that during the previous night, Russian air defenses faced "a massive attack of several hundred drones" that "unfortunately (...) caused deaths and injuries," according to the message he has disseminated on his social media.
He added that "the Kiev regime attacked homes and civilian buildings in Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and in the Temryuk district," where another person lost their life after a drone struck the yard of their house.
The Russian Ministry of Defense indicated this Wednesday that, throughout the night, Russian forces managed to intercept 502 combat drones, an unusually high number compared to the attack counts previously reported by Moscow.
