The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, expressed on Monday his confidence that negotiations aimed at ending the war with Russia will soon resume, and he indicated that he hopes the "U.S. side" will finalize a trilateral meeting by October.

"Our team is ready for the meeting," the Ukrainian leader emphasized in his nighttime address on Monday, in which he criticized that Russia "is not prepared" for the diplomatic path.

Zelensky has lashed out at Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating that his priorities are "clear" because they focus "only" on the "attacks against Ukraine" and on "destabilizing activities in Europe."

In this regard, the head of the Ukrainian state continues to pressure the United States to finalize with the Russian representatives the details of the trilateral meeting, after he himself confirmed on Sunday Kiev's willingness to participate in these talks in October, reiterating that he awaits the "response from Russia."

The negotiations began in mid-January in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and represented the first public meeting between delegations from Washington, Moscow, and Kiev since the invasion began in February 2022.

Among the issues on which consensus has not yet been reached are the control of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, security guarantees for Ukraine, and especially the question of sovereignty over the territories that Kiev has lost throughout the conflict. From the Ukrainian side, it is insisted that there is no lack of willingness to continue dialoguing and it has even been proposed to hold a direct meeting between the top leaders of all the parties involved, but Moscow has not yet given any response to this initiative.
