Elecciones generales del 29 de noviembre · Demócrata

Near 50% of the senators elected in the current legislature do not appear on the Senate lists for the general elections next November 29. Some of them, however, are contesting seats in the Congress candidacies and, if elected, will become deputies in the next legislature.

The Official State Gazette (BOE) has already published the provisional candidacies of the parties for the Congress and the Senate for the November 29 event and, according to the data collected by Europa Press, approximately the other half of the current senators have chances of retaining their seat in the Upper House in these elections.

The PP is the formation that has introduced the broadest renewal in its Senate group, in line with the fact that it has been the party with the largest number of senators in this legislature. In turn, the PSOE has driven a profound renewal in its Senate list leaders.

In these general elections of November 29, different electoral alliances have been set in motion. On the one hand, PSOE, Frente Amplio and other left-wing forces will run jointly in almost all constituencies, while PP and Vox have also reached an agreement to withdraw in certain provinces.

THE PSOE AND PP SPOKESPERSONS REMAIN

The elections of November 29 will not likely alter the seat of the PP and PSOE spokespersons in the Senate, Alicia García and Juan Espadas, respectively. In the case of the Popular leader, she will head the list for Ávila and everything points to her renewing her seat, while the Socialist maintains his status as a parliamentarian by regional designation.

The spokesperson for the PNV, Beatriz Artolazabal, senator by regional designation of the Basque Country, whose seat is not up for vote in these elections of November 29, will also continue in her seat. The same situation applies to the spokesperson for Junts, Eduard Pujol, designated by Catalonia.

In the opposite direction is the until now spokesperson of ERC in the Upper House, Sara Bailac, who will not repeat as a candidate in these elections and leaves her place on the lists for Lleida to Sílvia Martínez i Fuentes. In the constituency of Barcelona it will be Francesc-Marc Álvaro who appears on the candidacy, and the Republicans are expected to decide the new spokesperson among these names.
