The spokesperson for Compromís in Les Corts, Joan Baldoví, has expressed his condolences over the railway accident in Urda (Toledo), in which 69 people have died. In addition, he has called for an investigation to be opened that is not limited solely to this disaster, in order to clarify all the failures, and has emphasized that "the day of political responsibilities will arrive sooner rather than later".

"With two accidents in a year, someone has to assume political responsibilities", he said, referring to the train disaster in Adamuz (Córdoba) last January, in which 46 people died. Baldoví made these statements to the media in Les Corts, after observing a minute of silence for the victims of Urda.

The Compromís leader has conveyed his party's solidarity with the fatalities, the injured and the sick "in this tragic accident" and has stressed that "today is the day, evidently, to investigate the causes, to see what is what has failed".

In this line, he has defended that the investigation must encompass "not only the accident, but all the protocols that may have failed, whether more staff is lacking... In short, not to stay only with the accident, because two accidents in a single year show that something is not working well".

The Valencianist spokesman has called for going "beyond" the specific case of Urda "in order to try to prevent there from being a third accident" on the state railway network, and has insisted on the need to thoroughly review the system.

Asked whether he considers that the time has already come to demand resignations or dismissals, he reiterated that "it will come" and stressed that, at this moment, the priority must be to attend to the victims, those affected, and to provide support to their families.

After that, he insisted that "evidently, the day of political responsibilities must come" because "two train accidents in a single year deserve that someone must assume political responsibilities".

"We did it: we demanded political responsibilities on the day of the dana", he recalled, alluding to the disaster of October 29, 2024, which this Thursday marks two years since and in which 233 people died.

That same Thursday, Sumar —the group in Congress in which the Compromís deputy Alberto Ibáñez is included— has requested the appearance of the Minister of Transport, the socialist Óscar Puente, before the Permanent Deputation so that he can offer explanations for the railway accident in Urda.
