The national spokesperson for Energy, Economy, and Deregulation of Vox, José María Figaredo, has reiterated that the formation will make its decisions regarding the candidacies for the Senate "looking far ahead" and thinking "responsibly and about what is best for Spain." His words come in the final stretch to close the lists for the Upper House.

Figaredo has emphasized that "today the deadline ends" to register the candidacies for the Senate, which concludes at midnight this Monday, when questioned about the conversations Vox is having with the PP regarding the electoral lists for the Upper House ahead of the elections on November 29.

When specifically asked about the possibility of there being Vox ballots for the Senate in the provinces of Cáceres and Badajoz, José María Figaredo stressed that there is "no doubt" that "Vox will act responsibly" in this area, without providing further details about the final design of the candidacies.

The Vox leader made these statements to the media this Monday, before starting a visit to the Almaraz Nuclear Power Plant. He defended that this plant "is not only one of the supports of the electrical system of Spain, as the government that wanted to end it has had to acknowledge," but also constitutes "a symbol of a Spain of growth, of prosperity."

According to Figaredo, the country "will need more energy production than ever, because energy production is going to be the future of Spain." In this line, he added that data centers "are an essential element for the development of artificial intelligence," and that, "in the future it will have a much more relevant role."

All of this, he emphasized, occurs "despite the fact that the Government wants to end the development of data centers in Spain." Figaredo criticized that "since the blackout in Spain, the Government has realized the weakness of the energy system," a system that, he denounced, "is incapable of feeding the industry that is more than necessary in Spain."

In this same line, he attacked the "absolutely destructive" policies of the Executive, "not only against generation, which is what the nuclear industry represents here but also against the transportation of energy, which in the end is the essential element," he asserted.

Figaredo has warned that "Spain is now in a paradigmatic situation" with photovoltaic energy which, as he has pointed out, "is capable of producing a large amount of energy, but up to 30% of the energy that is produced annually has to be thrown away, dumped because they are not able to get it to their consumers."

In light of this scenario, he emphasized that, with Vox in the government, "electric energy would be put in the spotlight, being aware of the need for this energy for the well-being of the Spaniards for the growth of the industry of the present and the future," he concluded.
