The president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has issued a warning against the "wolves in sheep's clothing" who, he has pointed out, intend to give lessons in Catalonia while, in his opinion, attacking the pension system and policies aimed at ensuring access to housing.
During his speech this Sunday, after visiting the future National Reserve of Catalonia in Sant Fruitós de Bages (Barcelona), he defended that the country "is on the move," but emphasized that the people who make the Catalan economic and social engine work must have their basic rights protected.
"Catalonia is with the engine running. And we need those who make this engine work to have access to housing. And that those who have made it work are not questioned about having a decent pension. And we do not need some who are wolves in sheep's clothing to come and give us lessons," he expressed.
Illa also lashed out at those who claim that the community is paralyzed or lifeless: "Those who say this have been out of coverage for a long time."
In the same vein, he stressed that the Catalan citizenry is perfectly capable of getting ahead on its own and demanded room for action: "We need to be respected and to be allowed to act."
