The former councilor and elected MEP of Junts, Toni Comín, has returned this Sunday walking from France to Spain, crossing on foot the stretch that separates Cerbère (France) from Portbou (Girona), thus staging his return from Brussels after 9 years away.

This return occurs after the Supreme Court ratified the application of the amnesty law to Comín himself, to the former president of the Generalitat and leader of Junts, Carles Puigdemont, and to the former councilor Lluís Puig.

He explained that he wanted to access Catalonia through Portbou in "a song to friendship and a song to freedom."

Last Thursday, Comín went to the Central Electoral Board (JEC) in Madrid to collect his credential as an MEP after swearing the Constitution by legal imperative and "for fidelity to the people of Catalonia and to the mandate of October 1" of 2017.

In a letter sent to his circle, he detailed that his intention was to cross the border on foot and invited friends and acquaintances to join him: "That sad administrative line that divides the country and that prevented me from returning home freely," the letter stated.
