The Minister of Territorial Policy and coordinator of the unified command in the face of the current migration crisis, Ángel Víctor Torres, has announced the closure of the eviction operations of the settlements located on the coast of Ceuta and has estimated around 12,000 the number of people who have returned to Morocco since August 10.

Torres has made this assessment after the eviction of the Guano settlement was completed this Sunday. As he explained, this intervention has been carried out before the time limit that the Government itself had established to leave the settlements on the Ceuta coastal strip unoccupied.

"We made a commitment weeks ago that by October 15 we would achieve normality on the coasts of Ceuta, the different settlements. Well, we have achieved it even earlier, on October 11," he stated.

However, the head of Territorial Policy has emphasized that the operation is not considered closed and that the State Security Forces and Corps will now direct part of their work to other areas of the city, particularly to the streets and neighborhoods where there may still be migrants sleeping rough.

"We are going to continue working to ensure that this normality is complete with the people who remain in the neighborhoods, according to the reports, indications, and actions of the Security Forces and Corps," the minister has pointed out.
