The second vice president of the Junta de Andalucía and counselor of Tourism, Justice, Deregulation, and Local Administration, Manuel Gavira (Vox), informed this Sunday that his party has requested that, in the coming days, the monitoring commission of the government agreement sealed last July between Vox and the PP-A meet, with the objective of "deepening how the migratory issues will be managed within the coalition Government" led by Juanma Moreno.
As he explained in statements disseminated by Europa Press and in a statement, Gavira emphasized that "immigration is an essential issue for Vox and we want that, from now on, the decisions that affect this matter be treated and coordinated beforehand between the two parties."
The Vox leader pointed out that this aims to avoid repeating episodes like the one generated around the extraordinary aid of 25 million euros approved this week, with the favorable vote of Andalucía, in the Sectoral Conference on Childhood and Adolescence that brings together the central Government with the autonomous communities.
Last Friday, in a media briefing in Montilla (Córdoba), Gavira stated that the Andalusian Executive would have positioned itself against that extraordinary credit of 25 million euros if Vox held the competencies in this matter within the regional Government.
In that same Sectoral Conference on Childhood and Adolescence, representatives from the governments of Aragón, Extremadura, and Castilla y León did not participate, where the PP also governs with Vox and this party does manage the competencies related to minors, unlike what happens in Andalucía, despite the fact that in this legislature both formations also share the Executive.
In that appearance before the press, and questioned about the aid of 25 million euros, Gavira stated that "if this humble counselor --referring to himself-- had that competence, he would have voted the same" as his "colleagues in Aragón, in Extremadura, and in Castilla y León."
In that line, he specified that "the competence" in this area "is held by the Popular Party" in the Junta de Andalucía, through the Ministry of Social Services led by Loles López, and emphasized that "if the competence had been held" by his department, the Andalusian Government would have "opposed" that agreement.
Extraordinary aid for Ceuta and government agreement
One day later, this Saturday, the Board defended through statements sent to the media that the extraordinary aid of 25 million euros "does not constitute any breach of the agreement for the stability and government of Andalusia signed in July" between PP-A and Vox, which allowed the third investiture of Juanma Moreno as president.
In this context, Gavira has "thanked" this Sunday that "the Popular Party clarified" that its support for the extraordinary credit of 25 million euros intended for Ceuta in the Sectoral Commission of Childhood and Adolescence last Thursday "does not constitute a breach of the agreement."
"We value and appreciate that the Popular Party has clarified that it has not breached the government agreement. That is important, because both are committed to fully comply with the government agreement," emphasized the second vice president.
Gavira has insisted that "the protection of the Andalusians against the consequences of mass immigration is an essential issue for Vox," and has reminded that the government pact is "clear" on this point, as in its section 12 it expressly rejects "the arrival in Andalusia of more illegal immigrants, both adults and minors."
Likewise, he has reminded that the agreement between PP-A and Vox establishes that "we are not going to participate in regulatory reforms or budget agreements to facilitate, finance, or consolidate their entry, reception, or permanence in the territory of Andalusia."
The second vice president has focused on this last aspect, literally citing the content of the pact to emphasize that the credit approved this week is directed to Ceuta, so that the autonomous city itself has funds "to address, in its territory, the extraordinary situation caused by the invasion at the end of July, allowed by the criminal Government of PSOE," he added.
"In short, it is 25 million for Ceuta and in Ceuta, not for Andalusia nor in Andalusia. As our agreement states," argued Gavira, who pointed out that, in any case, the solution to the situation facing the autonomous city "is to return as soon as possible to Morocco those who have entered illegally, and not to move them even further away from their country of origin," starting from the idea that, "as long as the Government of (Pedro) Sánchez continues to allow and encourage mass and uncontrolled immigration, we will continue to suffer its consequences."
Reinforce coordination between PP-A and Vox
In this scenario, the second vice president has defended the convenience of "improving coordination" between the two formations that make up the Andalusian Executive, especially in an area that Vox considers "essential".
"We have a common position and an agreement to fulfill. And that agreement must be the reference for acting in a loyal, coordinated, and coherent manner in all the decisions we make, for the good of the Andalusians," Gavira has stated, before advancing the formal request for the convening of the monitoring committee of the government pact between PP-A and Vox to "delve into how migration issues will be managed within the coalition Government".
