The rejection of reopening the accession negotiations to the European Union in Iceland is ahead in a very tight count, with the 'no' (50.1%) just two tenths above the 'yes' when more than half of the votes have already been counted.
With 56.18% of the scrutiny completed, the 'no' leads by a very narrow margin of just over 400 ballots, provisionally tipping the consultation against resuming the accession talks to the European Union, which have been stalled for 13 years. The final outcome now rests in the hands of only four constituencies, where polls anticipate a clear rejection of European integration.
