The Ministry of Agriculture, Water, Livestock, and Fisheries has emphasized that in 2026 it will allocate 39.5 million euros to the fishing sector, "compared to the 29.06 million euros allocated in 2025," which represents "an increase of 35.9 percent."
According to a statement from the Generalitat, this budget increase will allow "to strengthen the main lines of support for the sector," with special emphasis on aid for biological pauses, whose allocation increases from 7.6 to 8.34 million euros, which represents "an increase close to 10%."
In the same way, Agriculture has specified that the subsidies destined for the fishermen's guilds rise from 1.150 to 1.250 million euros, which means "a reinforcement of support for these entities, fundamental for the fishing activity of the Comunitat Valenciana."
The general director of Fisheries, Miguel Castell, has highlighted that this budgetary reinforcement makes it possible "to strengthen the main lines of support for the fishing sector and consolidate the necessary investments to improve its competitiveness, promote the modernization of the activity, and continue advancing towards an increasingly sustainable fishing."
Among the most relevant increases is that of capital transfers destined for investments in fishing and aquaculture, for the transformation of fishing and aquaculture products, and for the actions of the Local Fishing Action Groups, whose allocation rises from 11.7 to 20.5 million euros, which represents an increase of 75%.
