CCOO and UGT have decided to conclude the negotiation of the state collective bargaining agreement after the last meeting held with Food Service España, the business organization that acts as the employer's representative at the dialogue table.
In the absence of significant progress, the unions informed this Wednesday through a press release that in the coming days they will detail a calendar of actions and mobilizations to defend labor rights in this area.
This framework agreement sets the working conditions for staff who serve school cafeterias, catering services in hospitals and nursing homes, sports and leisure centers, as well as company cafeterias throughout the national territory, and has been expired since December 31, 2025.
The break occurred after the employers described the proposal presented by the union organizations as "unacceptable."
In their platform, CCOO and UGT propose a reduction in the annual working hours, a salary increase that they consider "decent," the elimination of pay differences between categories, and the inclusion in the agreement of professional categories that are already used in practice but that do not yet appear in its wording.
CRITICISMS OF THE REFUSAL ON SALARY TABLES
For CCOO and UGT, it is "particularly incomprehensible" that companies refuse to update salary tables that are currently linked to the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI).
The union organizations denounce that the remuneration of the staff bears no relation to either the volume of work they undertake or the profit margins that companies in the sector claim to obtain.
In light of this refusal, both unions have chosen to walk away from the negotiation table without specifying a new date to resume dialogue.
CCOO and UGT have announced that they will promote mobilizations to demand an agreement that ensures decent working conditions for those who perform an essential task "such as feeding minors, the sick, the elderly, or working people."
