The Minister of Rural Environment, María José Gómez, has emphasized the role of avocado as one of the new alternatives capable of boosting the diversification of the agricultural sector in Galicia.
She did so this Wednesday during a visit to a recently created farm in the municipality of Sada, where she pointed out that this project constitutes an example of agricultural land recovery, as the estate came from land in a state of abandonment.
In relation to crop diversification, the minister noted that Galicia has "good conditions" for the development of emerging productions. She also highlighted that this is a case of incorporation into agricultural activity by a new farmer, who returned to Galicia after working in Latin America to start his own farm here.
The head of Rural Environment stressed that "it is evident" the interest that this crop arouses, even among young people who are joining the sector, and emphasized the need to accompany this trend with training, knowledge transfer, and specialized technical advice.
