The Agriculture, Livestock and Food Commission of the Cortes of Aragón has given the green light this Monday, with the support of PP, Vox and A-TE, the vote against from PSOE and the abstention of CHA, to a proposal jointly promoted by PP and Vox, defended by deputies Luis José Arrechea and David Arranz, to immediately stop all review files, return requirements and sanctioning procedures opened by the State Agency for Tax Administration (AEAT) against farmers and ranchers who have received extraordinary aid due to drought.

In his speech, Luis José Arrechea (PP) emphasized that "a regulation cannot be applied with its back to reality" and that "we cannot forget who is behind each file and requirement." He recalled that "the farmer assumes those production costs, but cannot be considered responsible for the drought and to maintain a required production," which is why he called for a change in the criteria being used.

For his part, David Arranz, from Vox, pointed out that meteorology is "a determining factor in agriculture, but it is outrageous that the Government of Spain comes in through the back door to finish off the battered farmer." In his opinion, "it makes no sense that a farmer who has suffered a disaster ends up having more tax problems because of this circumstance." Along these lines, he stressed that "people are tired of so much bureaucracy" and called for "justice" so that these requirements from the Treasury are reviewed.

On behalf of PSOE, Marcel Iglesias assured that "there is no massive requirement for aid due to drought or from the CAP" and criticized that the initiative from PP and Vox "tries to confuse people and attacks the autonomy of the technicians of the tax agency and we cannot ask them from the Cortes of Aragón to commit prevarication."

The sector spokesperson for Chunta, Miguel Jaime, agreed that "those who do not produce due to lack of activity cannot be treated fiscally in the same way as those who have not been able to harvest due to problems arising from climatic factors," demanding a differentiated approach for these cases.

In the turn of A-TE, Pilar Buj has highlighted that "our drylands are experiencing increasingly longer droughts and when that pattern repeats, we are talking about a climate that is changing." As a result, she has presented a verbal amendment to the second point of the text so that the net yield index is not applied and a regulatory modification is carried out in the calculation system of the modules, a proposal that has been adopted.
