The general secretary of PSOE-A, María Jesús Montero, has condemned this Thursday the "irresponsibility" that, in her opinion, PP-A and Vox have demonstrated by blocking the celebration of an extraordinary Plenary in the Andalusian Parliament, requested so that the Junta de Andalucía could offer "urgent explanations" about "two of the largest fires in the history" of the community, those recorded this summer in the municipalities of Los Gallardos (Almería) and Niebla (Huelva).
In a message on her profile on the social network X, the socialist leader has reacted to the meeting of the Permanent Deputation —the parliamentary body that continues to function when the Chamber is dissolved or outside the ordinary session period, as is the case now in August— in which PP-A and Vox have joined forces to reject the request of the Socialist Group to convene a monographic Plenary in which the Andalusian Executive would report on the Niebla fire, which has affected various municipalities in the provinces of Huelva and Seville.
"The irresponsibility of the PP of Moreno Bonilla and Vox knows no bounds," María Jesús Montero has written on said social network, emphasizing that the fires of Los Gallardos and Niebla have been "two of the largest fires in the history" of Andalusia, with a toll of "14 deceased" in the province of Almería and "more than 50,000 hectares burned."
After reproaching that PP-A and Vox, partners in the Andalusian Government in this legislature, "refuse to give urgent explanations in an extraordinary plenary," the leader of PSOE-A has asked "what other tragedy has to occur in Andalusia for us to hear the president of the Junta," Juanma Moreno, talk about his own management.
"With Infoca --Andalusian device against forest fires-- at a minimum and its professionals daily reporting deficiencies and shortcomings, we demand answers," Montero has insisted, before lamenting that "Moreno Bonilla prefers to hide."
In the same session of the Permanent Deputation in which the extraordinary Plenary has been rejected, the socialist deputy Mario Jiménez, who has acted as spokesperson for his group, has denounced the "absolute and glaring failure" of the Andalusian Government's project in emergency matters, which, he said, is evident with episodes like these fires.
From the PSOE-A they have also attacked the intervention of Vox, defended by Paula Badanelli, to whom Mario Jiménez has reproached that her party behaves like a "lapdog" of the president of the Junta and of the PP-A, Juanma Moreno, "who will have all his shames covered because they have gifted him a ministry and a position" in the new Andalusian Executive supported by the 'popular' in alliance with Vox.
The socialist parliamentarian has added that, in the field of emergencies, "it's not a matter of money," dismissing a lack of economic resources. He has maintained that the Junta is experiencing "like with healthcare," since "they have never had more money" in the regional administration thanks to the transfers from the Government of Spain, but, even so, the result is "the worst in terms of forest heritage, personnel, and human lives in the history of Andalusia," so "something is not being done right" by the regional Executive.
In that line, Mario Jiménez has accused the Government of PP-A of Juanma Moreno of having "destroyed" the Infoca device because "it was a project of the Socialist Party," holding the current cabinet responsible for deteriorating a tool that he considers key in the fight against forest fires.
