The PP deputy of Aragón, Susana Cobos, has demanded this Wednesday from the Government of Spain "adequate and fair funding" for housing policy in the autonomous community, for which she has registered a PNL in the Cortes of Aragón.
In a statement before the media, Cobos has asked "that Aragón be treated the same as the rest of Spain," emphasizing that, of the 40 million euros in direct subsidies approved by the central Executive, Aragón will receive "zero euros," while Catalonia will obtain more than 21 million, 53% of the total.
The popular parliamentarian has detailed that, between 2025 and 2026, the Government of Spain under Pedro Sánchez has distributed almost 83 million euros and 48 million "have gone to Catalan entities," that is, six out of every ten euros.
"We do not want privileges for Aragón, but we also do not want these privileges to continue for other autonomous communities," Cobos continued, denouncing that "while the Government of Spain finds direct subsidies, extraordinary mechanisms, and specific funding for Catalonia, Aragón has been demanding policies and funding for housing since 2024 and receives absolutely nothing."
Furthermore, she stated: "The Aragonese pay the same taxes and have the same rights, and Aragón will not consent to being a second-class community," while defending that "the Government of President Jorge Azcón has a clear, firm, and correct housing policy."
As she recalled, "after years of neglect and abandonment by previous Socialist Executives," the Azcón Government plans to bring more than 1,000 public and affordable homes to the market each year, with more than 3,600 already promoted to date.
Cobos has warned that "if the Socialist Party did not know or did not want to do it in Aragón, we will not allow them to try to limit the opportunities of the Aragonese to access affordable housing from the Government of Pedro Sánchez."
In the registered PNL, the PP demands "equal treatment in state housing funding, access for Aragón to direct subsidies under equivalent conditions to other territories, transfer of state land for public housing, and absolute transparency regarding the criteria used by the Ministry to grant these content subsidies," as well as "a state housing plan that truly helps the autonomous communities and does not shift more financial burden onto them."
Sánchez and the role of his independentist partners
In Cobos' opinion, "behind this difference in treatment there is a political reality that no one can ignore, and that is that Pedro Sánchez depends on his independentist partners to remain in La Moncloa and that is why he is making too many decisions responding to this need for political survival. And Aragón is not going to enter."
He concluded by insisting that "we do not want to take resources away from absolutely anyone, the only thing we want is for Aragón to receive the same treatment, the same opportunities, and the same commitment from the Government of Spain" as the rest of the autonomous communities.
