The representative of Por Ávila, Pedro Pascual Muñoz, has demanded this Thursday the effective activation of a comprehensive plan aimed at reactivating the area affected by the Burgohondo fire, emphasizing that it is essential for this program to be executed in its entirety. He has recalled, in this regard, the experience of the fire that last year devastated Cuevas del Valle, where some of the planned measures "are still sleeping the sleep of the just."
Pascual Muñoz has reiterated that it is essential to design a "truly ambitious recovery of the area" by the Junta, counting on the cooperation of all the administrations involved so that the reconstruction is effective and lasting.
Likewise, the representative of Por Ávila has specified before the Minister of Environment and Energy, María González Corral, that the debate about the fires should not focus on finding culprits or discussing whether the Junta has done it wrong or the State very wrong. In his opinion, "Nothing is suitable when the result is thousands and thousands of hectares burned that had generated the largest fire in the history of Spain up to that date," pointed out the representative from Ávila, who has equated the Burgohondo fire with the one that originated in the Sierra de La Paramera in 2021.
In his speech, he has warned that "The Junta's model continues to fail, there is a lack of adequate prevention and a structural provision with sufficient, well-trained personnel who are knowledgeable about the terrain in proximity. There is a lack of an adequate initial response...", Pedro Pascual has stated, emphasizing that it is key to stop the fire in the early moments because, if not, "they overwhelm you and consume you."
