The counselor of Environment and Energy, María González Corral, has reiterated the request made by the president of the Junta, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, to promote a pact and a state policy against forest fires, so that they are considered an emergency that, as she has specified, affects the entire country and not just Castilla y León.

In the debate, the socialist procurator María del Carmen Iglesias has emphasized the urgency of closing a "great pact" for climate emergency in order to combat the fires with the most effective resources "regardless of who governs".

The representative of the PSOE has held the Junta of Castilla y León responsible for having "crossed its arms" in the fight against forest fires and has criticized that the campaign has started, in her opinion, under worse conditions than in 2025, "without a single more forest firefighter than last year and with 25 percent fewer environmental agents than last year".

Likewise, she has reminded that the head of the Forest Fire Service was left vacant in June and has not been filled until fifteen days ago. "I don't know if there can be more indolence, more neglect, more disinterest," the socialist procurator has posed, who has questioned the counselor in these terms. González Corral, for her part, has defended the management of the Junta in the prevention and extinction of forest fires, as well as the cooperation with the other administrations involved.
