The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will go this Friday to Valencia to intervene in a pre-campaign event ahead of the general elections on November 29. Among others, the 'president' of the Generalitat and leader of the Valencian populars, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, will attend the meeting organized by the PPCV.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 PM at the Palau de Les Arts and aims to showcase the support of the national leadership for the PP's project in the Valencian Community. The organization emphasizes that the region is "ready for change, hand in hand with Alberto Núñez Feijóo." "This Friday we have a key appointment to demonstrate that we are ready to defeat 'sanchismo' and rebuild Spain," the party has stated.

Sources from the PPCV have explained to Europa Press that their objective is to display strength in the Valencian Community before the official start of the campaign and to highlight the weight of the Valencian PP within the party as a whole. They recall, in this regard, the "important" presence of the Valencian delegation at the first major pre-campaign event held by the PP in Madrid two weekends ago, to which Pérez Llorca "did not go alone," but "accompanied by the largest delegation from all of Spain." "He was where he needed to be," they emphasize, in a contest that they consider "important" for the Valencian 'populars' on Feijóo's path to La Moncloa.

Electoral lists and internal deadlines of the PP

The spokesperson of the PP in Les Corts, Nando Pastor, was asked at a press conference, after the meeting of spokespersons this Tuesday, about the schedule for making the candidacies for November 29 public and about the possibility that the first vice president of the Consell, Susana Camarero, will head the list for Valencia. He joked that the "internal calendar" of the party "raises more expectation than anything else," but assured that the names will be known "in due time." "Everyone stay calm," he added.

Pastor emphasized that the PP will present "the best" and contrasted that profile with the current government delegate in the Valencian Community and PSPV candidate for the Valencia City Council, Pilar Bernabé, who will be the number one for the PSOE in Valencia and who, he said, "does not contribute anything." "I prefer to wait and do things right," he stressed, insisting that "with time and deadlines we will have the best candidates."

Changes in the candidacies and Camarero's role

Feijóo has chosen to space out the announcement of the PP lists for the 29N, which has generated some nervousness among deputies and senators due to the "secrecy" of the leadership. For now, some names have been confirmed, such as Xavier García Albiol as the head of the list for Barcelona or Sergio Sayas as number two in the joint candidacy for Congress between UPN and PP.

In the Valencian sphere, it is taken for granted that there will be a change in the candidacy for Valencia. In 2023, the list was led by Esteban González Pons, who later returned to Brussels as a Member of the European Parliament in the last European elections. In the betting, the first vice president of the Valencian Government, Susana Camarero, is mentioned as a possible head of the list, which would force her to leave her position in the Consell if she is ultimately appointed.

On the other hand, in Alicante and Castellón, continuity is expected, with the ratification of Macarena Montesinos, current secretary of the Popular Group in Congress, and Alberto Fabra, 'former president' of the Generalitat, as the main references in those constituencies.

Recent events of the PPCV and criticisms from Baldoví

Last Saturday, the PPCV already organized another pre-campaign event in València with the presence of the spokesperson for the Popular Group in the European Parliament and member of the PP's steering committee, Esteban González Pons, in addition to Susana Camarero and other officials such as the president of the Diputació de València, Vicent Mompó, and the mayor of València, María José Catalá.

Regarding that event, the spokesperson for Compromís in Les Corts, Joan Baldoví, expressed this Tuesday that he was "surprised" by the absence of the 'president' of the Generalitat and leader of the PPCV, Juanfran Pérez Llorca. "We do not know who is to blame for the oversight and if it is premeditated to make him feel excluded," he pointed out, also emphasizing that we still "do not know who will be the candidate" of the PPCV for the upcoming regional elections.
