The spokesperson for Education of the Popular Parliamentary Group in Les Corts, Beatriz Gascó, has urged the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities and Secretary General of the PSPV-PSOE, Diana Morant, to "if she wants to talk about public education, she should inform herself about what this Consell is already doing," after the socialist leader announced initiatives that, according to the PP, are already underway in the Comunitat Valenciana.
During an event this Wednesday, Diana Morant stated that this is "the last back-to-school season that the PP will have at the helm of the Generalitat" and committed that, in the next legislature, the socialists "will once again place public education at the center of the Consell's priorities." Among her promises, she assured that the PSPV will reduce ratios, strengthen teaching staff, and recover the Edificant Plan if they win the regional elections.
Gascó replied that "when every day you wake up not knowing if you are going to be a minister or the leader of the Valencian socialists, it must be difficult to find out what is happening in our schools and institutes." In her opinion, Morant "went to Gandia to promise exactly what this Consell is already doing: more teachers, fewer students per classroom, more infrastructure, climate control, more support for inclusion, and more resources for families."
In a press release, the PP deputy emphasized that this school year, Valencian public education has a budget of 7.749 billion euros in the Generalitat's budgets for 2026, compared to the 4.9 billion from the last Botànic exercise, which represents, as she highlighted, an increase of nearly 57 percent. She defended that this is "a record investment in the Comunitat Valenciana, of 21 million euros every day, which places us as the third autonomous community that invests the most per student."
The spokesperson added that the educational system currently has 83,921 teachers, 8,082 more than with the Botànic, and that they have 200 euros more in salary starting this month, "something that the PSPV denied them 5 times." In addition, she recalled that the Consell has promoted a plan to incorporate 5,000 new professionals in four years, linked to the progressive reduction of ratios in classrooms.
According to Gascó, the execution of educational infrastructures has already reached 90% and climate control measures have been deployed in centers throughout the Comunitat. He also highlighted that the free education for the 0 to 3 years age group reaches 48,000 students, which represents a savings of up to 450 euros per month per child for families. He emphasized that the Executive of the 'president' of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, reinforces inclusion with more resources than ever, adding this school year 144 professionals and 48 additional classrooms for this purpose, and that vocational training has been prioritized with 19 new cycles funded with its own resources.
"Sanchismo is not credible"
"Diana Morant states that, if they hypothetically win the elections, they will do everything they did not do in eight years during the governments of Ximo Puig and Mónica Oltra and that now the Consell of Pérez Llorca is fixing," said the spokesperson for Education of the GPP, to emphasize that "sanchismo is not credible."
In Gascó's opinion, "it is curious that those who governed for eight years and did none of these things now come to reveal them to us, just when the elections are approaching." He warned that "no one should come to give lessons on public education with these figures, especially those who were unable to address the demands of the educational community for eight years. The Comunitat Valenciana is today at the educational forefront."
For the popular deputy, "Morant not only arrives late, but she arrives without having done her homework. We do not need the PSPV to promise what we are already fulfilling: we need the minister to be a little more Valencian and less sanchista."
