Three counselors from the Government of Ceuta have appeared before the judge of the National Court María Tardón, instructor of the case regarding the massive entry of migrants that occurred on July 30 and 31 from Morocco, to report that the authorities of the neighboring country showed a passive attitude both during the border crisis and in the handling of the 90 bodies recovered.

According to legal sources explained to Europa Press, this Tuesday they have given testimony as witnesses in the National Court Alberto Ramón Gaitán, counselor of the Presidency and Governance; Nabila Benzina, counselor of Health and Social Services, and Alejandro Ramírez, first vice president and responsible for the Environment, Urban Services, and Housing.

According to these sources, the counselor of Health traveled several times to the border area on July 30 due to the situation generated and, on her last visit, already in the early morning, she coincided there with the then delegate of the Government in Ceuta, Miguel Ángel Pérez Triano, who insisted that "the Moroccan authorities are collaborating."

Questioned by the magistrate about whether she interpreted that Pérez Triano was expressing himself in an ironic tone, Benzina has stated that she does not know, although she admitted that that phrase was offensive to her.

The same sources have specified that the counselor reported that it was necessary to enable space for 90 bodies when the city only had capacity for seven, and that Morocco has refused to take charge of the bodies, "even the identified ones."

The counselors have also reiterated that the Moroccan security forces maintained a passive attitude during the entry, to the point that some agents, according to their testimony, limited themselves to looking at their mobile phones or praying. Despite this, the witnesses have emphasized that the access of the people occurred in an organized manner, according to the consulted sources.
