The presiding magistrate of Plaza 2 of the Civil and Instruction Section of the Court of Instance of Berja (Almería) has decided to postpone the appearance as a witness of the mother of the two males who died in August of last year after a violent brawl that occurred in the Cerro Matadero of that locality, in which four other people were also injured.
Legal sources have indicated to Europa Press that this summons is suspended, for the moment without a new date set, after the request made by the private prosecution representing the family of the deceased through the lawyer Lázaro Chico, of Anverso Abogados.
The case, in which J.G.H. appears as the only investigated for an alleged crime of homicide within a procedure with a jury court, continues to await the receipt of expert and forensic reports that provide more details about the exact sequence of events.
The investigated, who also suffered stab wounds during the fight, remains in provisional detention for these events since he was discharged from medical care, after incidents that subsequently resulted in material damage and even a fire in his home.
The suspect was arrested on August 18, 2025, a few hours after the altercations. According to his version, he acted in self-defense against a confrontation with his neighbors that escalated in intensity.
The incident occurred shortly before 1:50 a.m. on that same day, when several witnesses alerted to a mass fight on El Romero street. The brawl left one dead and five injured, two of whom were taken to the hospital. One of these injured, brother of the first deceased, died two days later.
Throughout the day, the Civil Guard and the Local Police cordoned off and monitored the area, as around 8:05 a.m. a fire was declared in a house near the location of the fight that, according to initial indications, was uninhabited.
