The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has announced that the City Council is already working on the filing of a criminal complaint against the former Government delegate, Francisco Martín. The reason is the response sent by him to the municipal demand for him to order the eviction of the Sol encampment, an action which the mayor has described as an "exercise in superlative cynicism" for having sent the reply when "he knew that he had resigned".

During his intervention in the 'Desayunos Madrid', organized by Europa Press, Martínez-Almeida has ratified that they will go ahead with the legal action against Martín, who no longer has parliamentary immunity, for his "inaction" in the face of the encampment. The mayor has recalled that the City Council sent him a formal demand to which the then delegate had to respond within an administrative deadline that ended this Friday.

The mayor has detailed that "the former Government delegate has replied to the demand by summoning us to a meeting. I have seen many things from this former Government delegate but that of signing a demand on practically the day you are leaving, where it tells you that he would be delighted to be able to hold a meeting, and summons you to a meeting... it is an exercise in superlative cynicism," he reproached, underscoring the contradiction between the denounced inaction and the offer of dialogue.

Martínez-Almeida has admitted that "he was delegate when he signed it, but he already knew that he had resigned". "I suppose that he already knew that he was leaving, and yet what he does is that, saying that there has been no inactivity on the part of the Government Delegation, but that at the same time he is willing to hold the meetings with us that are necessary to provide a solution to the matter," he added in an ironic tone, questioning the coherence of Martín's action.

The mayor has specified that "our legal services are preparing the criminal complaint against the former Government delegate. It will be submitted to the judicial body that the municipal legal team deems fit. "The obligation of every Spaniard, according to the law, who witnesses the commission of a presumed crime or offense has the obligation to communicate it and bring it to attention. That is what we are going to do with Mr. former delegate," he explained, insisting that the City Council will act in accordance with the legal duty to place the facts in the hands of Justice.
