The new Government of Colombia has presented a first balance of its operations against drug trafficking during its first fifteen days, with 12,296 kilos of cocaine and 11,232 kilos of marijuana seized, in addition to 1,574 arrests.
The authorities also report the dismantling of 162 infrastructures linked to criminal organizations and various operations aimed at locating assets and structures used by drug trafficking.
More than 12 tons of cocaine seized
The main result of the balance corresponds to cocaine. Colombian security forces have intervened 12,296 kilos during the first fifteen days of the new Executive.
To this figure are added 11,232 kilos of marijuana, within a device that has included operations against networks dedicated to the production, storage, and distribution of drugs.
1,574 arrested and 162 infrastructures dismantled
The official balance also includes 1,574 arrests in different operations carried out during this period.
The security forces have also dismantled 162 facilities linked to drug trafficking structures, within actions aimed at hitting both drug production and the logistics of criminal organizations.
The Colombian government has also reported actions on assets and economic resources related to these structures.
A first balance of the new Government
The Executive uses these figures as a demonstration of its strategy to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking and criminal organizations.
The balance corresponds only to the first fifteen days of operations of the new Government and includes actions carried out in different parts of the country.
Colombian authorities expect to maintain this type of operations as one of the main lines of action in security matters during the coming months.
