The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has declared three days of official mourning in the autonomous community following the collision between two trains on the Madrid-Sevilla line recorded this Wednesday in Urda (Toledo), an accident that, for now, has left 64 dead.
As he noted in a post on his official X account, the mourning period began at 14:00 on this Wednesday and will last until 14:00 on Saturday, October 31.
"We are devastated. All of Andalucía is with the victims of this new railway accident," Moreno stated on social media. The official mourning order already appears in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA).
The text, to which Europa Press had access, establishes that the official flags will fly at half-mast on all buildings and public premises of the Junta de Andalucía, and also urges the rest of the administrations and entities, both public and private, to join this display of mourning.
The Andalusian Ministry of the Presidency, Health and Emergencies, headed by the first vice president of the Junta, Antonio Sanz, has activated health resources from the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) and has set up two Advanced Command Posts at the Sevilla Santa Justa and Julio Anguita stations --in Córdoba--.
The affected families have information telephone numbers enabled by Renfe (900 10 10 20) and Iryo (900 001 403), in addition to the Castilla-La Mancha emergency service line, 900 122 112.
