The calendar of oppositions for 2026 does not completely stop during August. Although different ministries have declared this month unworkable for certain selection processes, the BOE continues to publish calls from local administrations and other bodies, and there are procedures whose deadlines remain open. The General Access Point allows consulting and filtering the current public employment offers, while the calls corresponding to the Public Employment Offer of 2026 will progressively appear in the Official State Bulletin.
As of this Sunday, August 16, these are some of the calls and processes that are worth keeping on the radar.
301 positions for permanent state labor personnel
One of the state calls that keeps its registration period open corresponds to 301 positions for permanent labor personnel of professional group E0, specialty Complementary Support Tasks, reserved for individuals who certify intellectual disability. The process derives from the Public Employment Offer of 2023, but the call has been published in 2026.
The deadline began on July 9 and will remain open until September 3, 2026, since August has been declared unworkable for the purposes of its computation. Registration is done through the Selective Test Registration System of the Administration.
Administrative and auxiliary: new positions published in August
The local Administration concentrates a good part of the opportunities that have arrived at the BOE in recent days. In Alcañiz (Teruel), three positions for administrative staff and one for architect have been called, through opposition and free turn. The resolution was published on August 10 and grants a period of 20 working days from the day after its publication to submit applications.
There are also opportunities in Cox (Alicante), where two positions for administrative assistant and another two for administrative staff have been called, all through opposition and in free turn. In this case, the submission period is also 20 working days from the day after the publication in the BOE on August 10.
These positions are joined by other local calls published during the last week. Fuengirola (Málaga) seeks to fill four positions for technical inspection assistant through opposition and free turn, with a deadline of 20 working days from the publication of the resolution in the BOE on August 12.
Local Police: 17 positions in Coslada and 12 in Santa Eulària
The municipal security forces also star in some of the largest calls of August. The City Council of Coslada (Madrid) has called for 17 Local Police positions, through a competitive examination and open turn. Candidates have 15 working days from the day after the publication of the call in the BOE of August 10.
In Santa Eulària des Riu (Illes Balears), another 12 Local Police positions have been called, in this case through examination and open turn. The established deadline is 20 calendar days from the day after the publication in the BOE. The resolution has subsequently been subject to a correction of errors, so interested parties must check the updated bases before submitting their application.
The 12,850 health positions open the deadline on September 1
The large call recently published does not yet have an open deadline, but it will be one of the main events of September. The Ministry of Health has offered 12,850 positions for Specialized Health Training for 2027, 484 more than the previous year. Of these, 9,676 correspond to Medicine (MIR), 2,341 to Nursing (EIR), 377 to Pharmacy (FIR), and 293 to Psychology (PIR). There are also 69 positions for Biology, 57 for Physics, and 37 for Chemistry.
Applications may be submitted from September 1 to 14, 2026, both inclusive, using the official model 790. The exam will take place on Saturday, January 23, 2027, at 14:00 hours on the Peninsula and at 13:00 in the Canary Islands. The test will consist of 200 questions plus ten reserve questions and will last four and a half hours.
What requirements are needed to apply for an examination
The requirements depend on each body and call, especially in matters such as qualifications, physical tests, driving licenses, or specific knowledge. However, the Basic Statute of Public Employees establishes general conditions for access: to have the nationality required in each case, functional capacity to perform the tasks, to be at least 16 years old, not to be disqualified or separated from the service of an Administration, and to possess the required qualification.
From there, each process establishes its own conditions. For example, a position for an auxiliary may require ESO or equivalent, while other bodies require Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, or a specific university degree. In certain competitions for Police, firefighters, or environmental agents, physical tests and other specific requirements may also be added.
Upcoming exams and dates that candidates should watch
August also serves as a transition to a September with numerous processes already underway. Among the confirmed dates is September 22, when the physical test for the Scale of Environmental Agents of Autonomous Bodies of the Ministry of the Environment is scheduled, which has 99 positions for open access and requires Baccalaureate or Technician.
For its part, the access process to the Higher Corps of Civil Administrators of the State will continue between September 1 and 11 with the calls for the readings of the first exercise. The INAP also keeps the schedule of the processes corresponding to the OEP of 2025 updated.
The next major date already marked on the calendar will be January 23, 2027, when the MIR, EIR, FIR, PIR, BIR, QIR, and RFIR tests corresponding to the new health call will be held simultaneously.
Where to check the open competitions in 2026
The General Access Point of the Administration has a search engine where calls can be filtered by body, qualification, Administration, territory, or deadline status. For a large part of the processes of the General Administration of the State, applications are also submitted through the IPS platform.
The key is to differentiate the Public Employment Offer from the specific call. That a position appears in the OEP of 2026 does not mean that it is already possible to register: each process must be published later with its bases, definitive number of positions, requirements, syllabus, and submission deadline. The General Access Point itself warns that the calls corresponding to this year's OEP will be published progressively in the BOE.
Therefore, during the coming weeks, the BOE will be especially relevant for candidates. Each new call opens a limited window for submitting applications, and September will mark the reactivation of numerous processes that have been practically frozen during August.
