The spokesperson of the Junta de Castilla y León and counselor of Economy and Finance, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, reiterated this Thursday that the new documentation sent by the central Government to the community regarding the autonomous financing system "confirms point by point that it is the one presented by Oriol Junqueras" a few months ago.
The representative of the autonomous Executive made these statements a week before the meeting of the Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy (CPFF), in which this model is expected to be discussed. In this context, he emphasized that the Junta will defend its position and "the interests of the people of Castilla y León" against a scheme that it considers "absolutely unfair."
Fernández Carriedo recalled that, after the meeting between the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the leader of ERC, the latter presented "his model," which, he claims, is the one that is now "being proposed to impose on all autonomous communities."
After examining the documentation requested from the Government of Spain, the counselor of Economy and Finance considers this point corroborated and lamented that, during these months, the central Executive "has not taken the opportunity to rectify and has also not taken the opportunity to explain."
Consequently, he again demands that it "reconsiders" the proposal in the "days that remain ahead," understanding that "autonomous financing cannot be a bargaining chip for ERC" in exchange for support in Congress. "Citizens pay taxes not so that Junqueras can present a pact with the Government that benefits his party, they pay taxes to receive services," he emphasized.
The spokesperson stressed that an autonomous financing system cannot be described as balanced if it distributes 21 billion euros "new" and a community like Castilla y León, "which has 20 percent of the surface area" of the country, receives "only 271 million," 1.3 percent of the total.
