The Castellón Provincial Council has approved a line of aid of 760,000 euros so that the municipalities of the province can hire tourist informers during 2026. The call will benefit 98 municipalities and the smaller local entity of El Ballestar, 99 beneficiaries in total.
The allocation represents an increase of 6.29% compared to 2025, when 715,000 euros were allocated to this program. The objective is to strengthen in-person attention to visitors and, at the same time, generate job opportunities in the municipalities of the province.
What positions will be funded?
The aid is intended for municipalities to hire staff to carry out in-person tourist information tasks.
The informers will be able to assist visitors, explain the main points of interest in each locality, and provide information about routes, heritage, gastronomy, nature, and activities. The Provincial Council also highlights that the program allows for keeping tourist offices open for more months of the year.
760,000 euros for 99 localities
The program is part of the Provincial Council's strategy to de-seasonalize tourism and strengthen the economic activity of the municipalities, especially the smaller ones.
The province of Castellón has 135 municipalities and, with this call, the provincial institution expands the scope of a line of aid that in 2023 reached 31 localities and in 2025 already reached 93.
Where can these jobs be applied for?
For now, the Provincial Council has approved the subsidies, but the hiring process for the informers corresponds to each beneficiary municipality. Therefore, the conditions, number of positions, requirements, and registration deadlines must be consulted in the calls published by each municipality.
The Provincial Council itself has published the call for subsidies for 2026, whose application deadline for municipalities has already ended.
The hiring of these informers will strengthen tourist attention in 99 localities of Castellón over the next few months, with a provincial investment of 760,000 euros.
